Golf Pride, a division of Eaton Corporation, has been the largest global manufacturer of golf club grips for decades. Summer Consultants provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for their new 36,000 SF headquarters facility. The facility includes corporate offices, a consumer interactive wing, and a research and development operation.
The mechanical system includes a combination DX VAV system with high-efficiency heat pumps and exhaust fans. The plumbing system includes a high-efficiency electric tankless water heater and an emergency shower in the research and development area.
The new electrical system is comprised of 480/277V, 1600-amp service to support the HVAC system, LED lighting fixtures, office equipment, and research and development equipment. A central lighting inverter provides emergency power to light fixtures in lieu of individual battery packs. Connections for a future standby diesel generator to provide power for the server room, lighting, and HVAC equipment were also added.
To reduce energy costs, high-efficiency HVAC systems, plumbing equipment, and LED lighting were utilized. The LED lighting was designed to 40% of the allowable wattage per the North Carolina State Energy Code.
