This summer, I returned to Summer Consultants for my second internship. Working under Cameron, I was able to learn and contribute even more than I did last summer. I jumped right into projects, and the variety of work I was able to assist with made this internship a valuable and enjoyable experience.
I also had the opportunity to go into the field and conduct surveys for a range of jobs. Even during the first major heatwave of the summer with feels like temperatures reaching 105-110°F, I didn’t mind, as I got to visit some really interesting project sites. These visits deepened my understanding of how MEP jobs are carried out in the field.
I was impressed by Summer Consultants’ commitment to improving the intern experience, even just over the past year. They improved the way required knowledge was taught and streamlined the onboarding process. The office in McLean, VA, added a new office space to account for the increase in people while the interns were here this summer. This space allowed us to have easier access to our mentors and gave us a good space to learn.
Finally, the team at Summer Consultants does an excellent job of making the office feel like a family. Our daily music games during lunch offered a fun break and a chance to show off our music knowledge. At the Summer Summit, we participated in activities that brought us closer as a group through challenges, learning opportunities, and afternoon events. Over the past two summers I have really enjoyed getting to know the team. They’ve shown me what it means to be an engineer, and I now feel much more confident about my professional future.
