Moen Incorporated, manufacturer of faucets and other plumbing fixtures for kitchens and baths, faced the need for increased distribution center capacity due to continued corporate growth. Moen identified its distribution center in Kinston, North Carolina, as a potential site for expansion, with the intent to have the new 143,600 SF facility operational within 11 months of issuing a design build construction services request for proposal.
Summer Consultants designed the $1,000,000 electrical power, lighting, fire alarm, and security paging systems for the facility expansion. The project is mostly warehouse, but includes a 2 story office space for support staff. The design includes a new 480/277 V, 1000 A service to the warehouse. LED exterior and interior lighting with controls to include occupancy sensors, and a new addressable fire alarm system with an early suppression, fast response (ESFR) fire protection system. The design also extends the distribution center’s existing communication and security system into the addition.
