My Experience as a Summer Intern: Electrical Engineering

I worked at Summer as an intern for 12 weeks, mostly under the mentorship of an engineering designer named Christian.

Prior to this internship, I had knowledge of AC power systems and motors, but no experience with AutoCAD MEP or structural engineering (and how it fit in to what I was doing). However, I quickly was able to learn all the types of software used, from AutoCAD to Bluebeam to AGI, and I worked with many people in the company, not just my mentor. Hence, I got to work on a variety of projects and various phases, from initial survey to final submissions and everything in between. Some examples of what I did included panel calculations, generator design, load calculations, lighting design and wiring, and many more. No two projects were the same!

Beyond my assignments, I enjoyed the company atmosphere and community, and was very grateful to participate in the Summer Summit this year.
